Christmas is “done”

Thursday, November 29th, 2007

Ben is a pretty polite guy. We make sure he says “please” when he wants something, and he’ll often say something like “Thank you for making dinner, daddy.” So last night we got the Christmas tree up and decorated, and he was checking it out this morning and said, “Thank you for making Christmas done.”

The tomato in the bathtub

Sunday, November 25th, 2007

After Ben’s bath, he asked where the tomato was. It took us a couple seconds to get what he meant, then corrected him, “You mean the tornado in the water by the drain?”

So we waited, since there was still a lot of water left, for the tornado to arrive. He kept asking where it was, and then finally I saw it start and said, “Ben, it is getting ready to start!” Then Ben stated, quite matter of fact, “It’s getting ready. It’s putting its shoes on.”

Happy holidays

Click the picture below for a little holiday cheer.

Unfortunately, OfficeMax has deactivated the site now that the holidays are over. Sorry if you missed it; I assure you it was super cute. Maybe they’ll do something similar next year.

BenMix Recipes

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

Ben likes to mix his snacks… why carry around two bowls with two snacks when you can carry one around with both. This all started with Goldfish-Cheerios months ago. He combined the two bowls, and it was an instant hit that he ate for months. We’ll his palate has matured, so he is trying some new things. His latest is Goldfish-Chocolate Granola-Life-Croutons. I tried some last night… it isn’t half bad.

Say “yes,” daddy!

Monday, November 12th, 2007

So about a month and a half ago, I got a new Nissan Rogue, which has Bluetooth integration so I can talk on my cellphone though the car stereo. It is a really nice feature which includes voice dialing. Here’s how it is supposed to play out when I want to dial, say, Monique at work…

Me: “Call Monique office.”
Rogue: “Call Monique office, is this correct?”
Me: “Yes”

Then the call goes through. Except for when in the middle of this process, I need to pay attention to traffic. Which is what happened with Ben in the car only a couple days after I got it…

Me: “Call Monique office.”
Rogue: “Call Monique office, is this correct?”
(Long pause)
Ben: “Say ‘yes,’ Daddy!!!”

He already thinks I am an idiot. So sad.
