So the day has finally come (and gone). Thankfully the rain held off. Ben was Diego, and Nick (his cousin) was a wizard. Ama made Nick’s costume (to his exact specifications). It was really cool, and he was totally hamming it up in it, so we got lots of pictures.
We had fun trick-or-treating, but half way through, Ben decided he wanted to ride in the wagon, and he wasn’t getting out. We think a guy in a mask kind of spooked him. So he rode in the wagon while Nick continued on. Suddenly, when we got back to Ama’s house, Ben tore up the driveway to trick-or-treat there. Next thing you know, he was off to the next house. Totally bizarre. So we continued on for a few more houses before we went home to count the loot. We did pretty well, but Ben was a little out of control when we got back and dug into the candy (not sure why).
P.S. Still loving the 50mm lens, which was used to take all of the pictures linked above. Too bad it’s a rental and has to go back on Friday.

I’m renting a 50mm lens to try out through Halloween. It is an awesome lens for taking natural light photos in low light conditions. Wide open gives a very shallow depth of field so only the subject (and sometimes only some of the subject) is in focus. One thing I have learned so far is to be very careful with the focus (even at f/2.0). I have plenty of soft/out of focus shots to prove it. You can click the photo on the right to see some that did come out alright.

Today, took a field trip with Ben’s class to Upland Hills Farm and had lots of fun! We pet hens, baby pigs, and cows. Ben even got to milk the cow. We also picked some pumpkins. It was great to see Ben enjoy the day with all of his new friends and teachers. Too bad Ben’s favorite part that he talked about all day was when the horse spit (more like drooled) all over the place.
