Snot rainbow on glass

Ok, sometimes this blog is going to have to get gross. It is just a simple fact of life given that we have a child. However anyone who loves kids knows that there is such a thing as cute gross. Case in point…

Ben wasn’t feeling good a couple weeks ago. During that time, his nose was running quite a bit, but he wasn’t going to let that get him down. In fact he showed us signs of his creative side with his first work of art, entitled “snot rainbow on glass.”

Two minutes for roughing

Yesterday we went to Great Lakes Crossing (shopping mall) to take Ben to The Rainforest Cafe. Unfortunately there was a two hour wait for a table, so we ate elsewhere. After dinner, we let Ben run around in the play area with the other kids. He was so funny to watch. I don’t think he had ever seen so many kids before. He just ran and ran with the occasional stop to look in some purses or stare at some other kid’s parents. We took turns following him around to make sure he didn’t get run over. Mo was chasing him first when he decided to put some poor kid nearby in a sleeper hold. Maybe in Ben’s mind it was a hug, but the poor kid looked up at Mo as if to say, “what did I do to deserve THAT?!?!” Then he got up on the huge 20 foot breakfast plate before Mo could stop him. We were just trying to keep him off of there because that was the area that the kids were flying everywhere, so she chased after him to make sure he didn’t get crushed. Mo was amazed the two of them made it across alive as he literally had kids flying overhead as he crawled to the other side. Later on he saw a kid coming at him along the path he was running and totally stiff armed the kid out of the way. It was amazing how well he held his own in there! I think that was the first time ever that he decided when he was ready to quit. He just walked over to the entrance to the play area where Mo was standing at the time and stopped. Of course he was out like a light 5 minutes into the ride home.

Ben’s boo boo

Ben got a pretty good boo boo yesterday. We went for a walk while Monique was getting some work done. He was doing a pretty good job walking on the sidewalk without tripping. He just kept doing this weird thing where he would bend down, get on all fours and look at the concrete, then get back up and start walking again. Next thing you know, he is down on all fours again. I think he meant to give the sidewalk a kiss (don’t ask, just some weird thing he has been doing lately with anything masonry), and BAM, he conked his head. He took it pretty well and as you can see from the photos, it doesn’t bother him. Just looks pretty bad.
